5PM – Digital Illustration 3
June 8, 2022 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
WEDNESDAY
Today we continued the lesson on learning how to draw hands. We used pictures of real life hands to learn about the simple shapes an anatomy that is in a hand. This helps us understand the structure of the hand better, and will allow us to draw more convincing hands, even if they are cartoon and not realistic.
Today we also started on a new project – to put into practice what we have learned so far in drawing hands. So far we have done the body sketch, applied the face, and started on sketching the shape of the hands.
HOMEWORK
More hands practice! We are going to do a similar exercise that we did in class, but slightly more difficult.
STEPS:
- Take FOUR pictures of your hand, each picture a different pose. Try to do something different that what we did in class already. At least one pose should be your hand interacting with an object.
- Start a new square canvas (2040 x 2040)
- Divide the canvas into four equal sections.
- Import your photos. One in each section.
- For each pose, do what we did in class. Lower the opacity of the photo so that you can find the shapes that make up the hand and draw it over the photo.
- After you find the shapes, use that practice to try to draw that hand pose without tracing. You may look at the photo as a reference on another device.
- Do this for each of the four poses.
